Legends of The Hidden Temple T-Shirt

Get your mouth guards ready—you can’t properly discover Olmec’s secrets unless you are dressed for the part. Legends of the Hidden Temple was a children’s action-adventure program produced by Nickelodeon between 1993 and 1995. Hosted by the denim shirt-clad Kirk Fogg, the 30-minute television show pitted children between the ages of 11 and 14 from the Orlando metro area against a series of mythological physical and mental challenges along with trivia and gentle teasing from a giant talking stone statue.

Teams of two were made up of both a female and male contestant. Those who successfully navigated the moat and tackled the Steps of Knowledge and the Temple Games were allowed to explore the hidden temple in order to retrieve a temple artifact. Unfortunately for these child contestants, the temple is protected by mysterious magic as well as menacing temple guards. Legends of the Hidden Temple offered winners the opportunity to claim the most 1990s prizes of all time, including a week at NASA Space Camp.

The names of the teams complimented the jungle theme and included the Blue Barracudas, the Green Monkeys, the Silver Snakes, the Red Jaguars, the Orange Iguanas, and the Purple Parrots. All six teams competed in the moat crossing portion of the competition, in which the four best performing teams are allowed to move forward. During the Steps of Knowledge, the teams are challenged with trivia questions related to geography, history, and mythology that further eliminate two more teams.

During the Temple Games, the final two teams compete in a test of athleticism in order to collect additional pendants. The team with the most pendants would be allowed to proceed to the Temple Run phase, where they would have to complete tasks like assembling a statue in the Shrine of the Silver Monkey. The show ran for approximately three seasons and 120 episodes, although it lived on for much longer on TeenNick.
